There were seven breaks of serve in a rollercoaster opening set, and despite going 1-3 down in the second, Sabalenka raised her level to reel off five straight games, returning to the last eight.

14:30 CET - Good afternoon and welcome back to our coverage of the US Open this Sunday! The fourth round begins in a few hours, with several really exciting clashes to look forward to.

Up first on Arthur Ashe at 17:30 CET, world number one and two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka is set to take on the home crowd when she meets charismatic American Taylor Townsend.
